Taste of Louisiana Utah

Cooking Fine Louisiana Cuisine

Believing Louisiana southern favorites like Seafood Gumbo & Po-Boy Sandwiches would enhance the Utah food sector, U. S. Army Retiree and Louisiana Native, Jerrell Carter opened Taste of Louisiana Utah (TOL U) Food Truck in 2016. While Louisiana food is typically spicy, (TOL U) has found its niche in the Utah market by serving signature dishes that are well seasoned and full of flavor.

Menu items such as fried fish, chicken and shrimp served with savory sides such as baked cheese grits, red beans & rice and waffle fries to name a few are crowd pleasers that enhance any venue or catering event! We believe (TOL U’s) continued success is greatly contributed to entrees, savory sides and desserts that are made fresh from scratch daily. For those of you whose taste buds haven’t been delighted, samples are always available at a venue near you!

Jerrell Carter
CEO

Jerrell & Helena Carter were inspired to use their gifts of cooking to bridge cultural gaps in Utah. We believe there’s no better way to get to know others than by breaking bread together. Walls begin to come down and people open their hearts to listen and share experiences. Our southern roots and gifts of hospitality paired with our love for individuals from all walks of life were motivating factors in establishing Taste of Louisiana Utah. Believing we could have chosen another state to open our first brick and mortar restaurant, Utah was our choice since our mobile food truck was established in Utah. Additionally, Utah was chosen as it is an underserved market for iconic Louisiana entrees and desserts.

After six years as a mobile food vendor the first brick and mortar restaurant was opened in December 2022. Signature items such as Seafood Gumbo, Sassy Sauce as well as Red Velvet Cupcakes “like no other” launched into retail at “The Sassy Store” during our 2nd Annual Customer Appreciation Crawfish Boil June 24, 2023. The Sassy Store is located in front of our brick and mortar restaurant and is home to unique merchandise and food items. Our goal is to expand into other underserved markets across the nation as well as international markets and e-commerce.
