Gracie’s Farm

Nestled in a valley in Wanship, UT at almost 6000’ in elevation is Gracie’s Farm. Our female team of FarmHers strive to produce organic, sustainable, produce that is not only good for us, but the land around us. Growing on around an acre, we utilize our hoop house, green house, caterpillar tunnels, row cover, and cover crop to compensate for a short growing season and get the most out of every harvest.

Here at Gracie’s we specialize in a diverse array of vegetables : tomatoes, eggplant, pepper, salad greens, lettuce, kale, collards, turnips, radishes, carrots, potatoes, zucchini, summer squash, potatoes, garlic, herbs, and more. We also grow flowers for cutting & pollination.

We also offer numerous farm experiences throughout the summer and winter seasons. Every month we host a farm dinner that highlights what is fresh on the farm. We host workshops such as floral arrangements, pickling, and beekeeping as well as winter experiences such as medicinal tea making, salve & balm making, and eco-printing with forageables.

The Forbes Family Farm

We love connecting people in our community with locally grown food. We sell our produce through a Community Supported Agriculture model where families purchase a membership share and receive a box of fresh produce every week throughout the growing season along with an option to add-on a pasture-raised meat share. We grow over 70 different crops ranging from root veggies and greens to classics like tomatoes and cucumbers. Each week from May through October members receive approximately 8-12 produce varieties. The early weeks of the CSA will feature a variety of greens (lettuce, kale, arugula, spinach), root crops (radishes, carrots, beets, turnips) and peas, Swiss Chard, bok choy, green onions, herbs and garlic scapes. These boxes will be a bit smaller as produce is just coming on here in our high-altitude setting. As we move into the summer, your share will begin to include crops such as green beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, hot and sweet peppers, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, eggplant, summer squash, garlic and strawberries. By the fall we will also be able to include winter squash, apples, plums, melons, onions, leeks, fennel and potatoes.

All of our animals are raised out in the sunshine, moving to fresh grass daily. They are never given antibiotics or growth hormones. Most of our animals are heritage breed stock and are allowed to exhibit all the natural traits of their species. We raise chicken, ducks, turkeys, pigs, cattle and yaks.

We also run a guesthouse and covered wagons through Airbnb that allows us to share a piece of farm life with those looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle. As a remote property along the scenic Sheep Creek Geological Loop, this is the perfect place for star gazers, outdoor adventurers, garden enthusiasts, and anyone looking to spend time on a working farm.

We’re passionate about teaching people how to confidently cook farm to table meals at home, so provide a variety of online courses and resources teaching people how to stock their kitchen, acquire the best ingredients, build a seasonal menu concept, and enjoy the Farm to Table experience at home.

Farm Yard Fresh

Farm Yard Fresh is a multi-generation, family-owned urban farm in Santaquin. We specialize in growing field greens, microgreens, and root veggies all on 1/2 acre in town. While that may seem small, you’ll find us in over 10 restaurants, at 2 farmers markets, and in our very own farm store. We love being part of a food scene that increases the health, happiness, and interconnectedness of our community.

New Roots Farm

Many refugees and other New Americans come to the U.S. with backgrounds in agriculture. New Roots, a farmer training and food access initiative of the International Rescue Committee in Salt Lake City, provides these communities with a way to reconnect with land, grow culturally appropriate vegetables, and leverage their farming skills to earn supplemental income.

New Roots farmers earn income through produce sales to local schools, restaurants and Whole Foods Markets in Utah. They also operate three workplace CSA’s, delivering vegetable shares to employees of partnering businesses. New Roots founded and continues to operate and sell at the Sunnyvale Farmers Market and new for 2019, New Roots Farmers Market at Central Park.     

New Roots farmers grow a number of crops familiar to the American palate, including Beets, Carrots, Heirloom Slicing Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes, Spinach, Kale, Spring Mix, a variety of  Peppers, and Eggplant. Additionally, they grow speciality ethnic crops like African Eggplant, Aleppo Peppers, Amaranth Greens, Molokhia (Egyptian Spinach), Thai Chili Peppers, Tatume Squash, and long beans, among others.

All proceeds from sales go to the program’s 35+ farmers who originate from Sudan, Burma, Bhutan, Chad, Somalia, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The farmers collectively manage 15 acres of leased land spread throughout Salt Lake County.

Keep It Real Vegetables

Keep It Real Vegetables is an urban farming project located in Salt Lake City, Utah. I grow produce by hand on several small-scale gardens in the Salt Lake valley. I am dedicated to growing the freshest, highest quality produce available. I adhere strictly to organic growing practices, enriching my soils with massive quantities of compost, compost teas, cover crops, and organic amendments until the soil is sweet enough to deliver the flavor I am looking for.

Black Island Farm

Black Island Farms has been a family business for over 50 years; and we are proud of out heritage in Davis County. Bring your family to the farm to enjoy farm-fresh goodies from our market and our delicious corny  cafe concession booth. Get lost in our 16 acres corn maze, take a scenic ride out ot one of our pumpkin patches and pick out your very own pumpkin. If you dare, enter nightmare acres, our haunted corn maze now featuring zombie apocalypse laser tag.

Black Island Farms is a great place to visit with a group of any kind and size. Birthday parties, scout troops, sports teams, church groups, and many more visit us each year. We love Black Island Farms! We have been coming here for years. I have seen others complain about the prices, but you get what you pay for. They are really quite cheap compared to other mazes. There is so much fun to be had, so much to do. They have 3 different mazes, a hay ride to the pumpkin patch where you get to pick your own pumpkin (included in price) as well as slides and swings, turkey and pig races. I highly recommend bringing your family out here!!!!

The best part about it is that it’s open Sundays (literally the only patch that is!). But even with it being the only one that’s open, it wasn’t overcrowded at 2PM (in fact, the tractor ride and two smaller slides didn’t even have lines). There’s parking on both the West and East sides of the street, but the maze and everything are on the West side. When you first walk into the gates, there are ticketing booths to the South and the Hayride line to the West. Buy your tickets first before going to the Hayride. Once past the ticketing booths, there is a small “farmer’s market” with several types of squash. Then comes The Courtyard, a big open field surrounded by pens of animals (calves, turkeys, pigs, goats, chickens/roosters, geese), a Turkey Race track, Piglet Race track, tire swings, three sizes of slides (slick plastic sheets overlaying haystacks or the largest is a big tube 2.5 stories up), a barrel tractor ride (adults under 250lbs can ride, too!), a corn kernel “sandbox,” and one little food truck. There’s live music by the food truck, which was kind of unfortunate placement in that ordering was made more difficult by the loud music. The food is a bit overpriced and my chicken tenders were still cold in the middle, but it was palatable. The Corn Maze is fun, though by this last weekend there were well-worn “shortcuts” from people just walking between the stalks, so it wasn’t as challenging. Overall, we had fun and my toddler nephews loved it, so we have made note to go back again next year! Maybe we’ll try to the Hayride because it looked fun (and it’s not a bad deal since it comes with a pumpkin that you pick out on the ride).

I was surprised at how much fun this place was to spend our Halloween. There was hardly anyone here. We played endlessly on the slides, loved the little train (we went twice), and had so much fun we didn’t even get time to go in the corn Maze. The hamburgers were DELICIOUS which I wasn’t expecting. We hung around the bonfire after dark and were very happy we spent our day at BIF.

Wilkerson Farm

Wilkerson Farm produces a variety and fruits and vegetables in the summer exclusively for donation to local food banks and pantries. We invite members of the public to donate towards the direct growing costs and also to volunteer on harvest days. How is this different than donating directly to the food bank? The vast majority of donations given to food banks are shelf-stable, canned, and pre-packaged. Fresh and healthy food is often inaccessible to lower income families due to cost. We are able to grow bulk crops and improve the quality of food they receive.  Every dollar donated here can help us provide 10 pounds of produce!

Wilkerson Farm hosts a Fall Fair each September through November that includes a carnival, hayrides, corn maze, and pumpkin patch. We create a safe & fun environment for families of all ages to experience the beauty and bounty of local farmlands.

Our family went to their pumpkin patch/corn maze and had a magical night! The staff was so friendly and accommodating! The rides were fun, the activities were great, and it was just the right size for our family to really enjoy without feeling overwhelmed and crowded! The grandchildren were in heaven and even my grown children had a ball! We left with a little pumpkin for each of the kids and everyone was thrilled! Thank you for providing a great night!
