We specialize in classic American food with a hometown feel. For 60 years, we’ve served cooked-to-order burgers, fresh hand-cut fries, and thick shakes and malts.
Great food starts with great ingredients. We’re dedicated to quality and the little things that make our food memorable, like fresh vegetables and that most-important Utah staple: fry sauce. Beyond fresh, made-to-order food, we believe the atmosphere makes a meal even better. So we serve it up with the friendly service you’d expect of a family-owned business.
Located in West Valley, Ab’s is home of the famed “Fat Boy” burger. You can’t claim to be a local unless you’ve tried one.

Ab and Dot Beutler
Ab and Dot Beutler started Ab’s Country Inn, as it was known back then, in 1951 in Hunter, Utah (now West Valley). We started out in a rented tin shack with the roof being held down by railroad ties. In 1952, we erected a cinder block building with no dining room. A year later, we added a dining room, so we could serve our steaks and homemade pies to dine-in patrons. Back then, Ab brewed his own root beer and served it in glass mugs.
Over the years, we moved to our current location on 5600 West. Through many changes over many decades, we still cook to order and have served hand-cut fries since day one. You can still get “The Fat Boy,” a double burger with a quarter pound of fresh beef. We will always be a family-owned business that cares about the community we work and live in.
